Michigan teen kills himself after accidentally killing teen

They’ve been identified as 17-year-old Kalamazoo resident Marsavious Frazier and 17-year-old Daqarion Hunter, also of Kalamazoo. But Jonathan Frazier said police told him that his son shot Hunter.

He says we need to have an open conversation about how teenagers get their hands on guns and wind up shooting other people, whether it be accidental or intentional. Distraught, the shooting teen took his life after realizing what they had done.

Police want to remind people to be mindful and serious about proper and legal handling of firearms. He felt responsible for taking his friend’s life.

The witness told detectives that the teen who was not shot became distraught and shot himself.

Hunter graduated from Loy Norrix High School in June, and Frazier was a Phoenix High School student, Kalamazoo schools superintendent Michael Rice said in a statement.

According to an eyewitness, one of the two was shot by accident while a gun was being played with, and the other died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police also released a statement, reading: ‘This is a very unfortunate incident and we remind people to be mindful and serious about the proper and legal handling of firearms.

Ledbetter says the gun was not stolen but was not properly registered either.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
