Saturday lunchtime has brought further claims, with Daryl Murphy supposedly being left out of the Ipswich squad for today’s home match against Preston, with a Newcastle move set to go ahead.
Murphy, who has one year remaining on his contract with Ipswich, started his career at Luton Town and has also played for Waterford United and Sunderland as well as having loan spells with Harrow Borough and Sheffield Wednesday.
Sky’s man in the north east Keith Downie, says that the transfer has been pushed through after daryl Murphy forced the issue by putting in an official transfer request.
Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has admitted that he is “disappointed” by Daryl Murphy’s imminent departure for Championship rivals Newcastle United. “Murph has been great for me over the past few years but it’s a good deal all round”.
During five seasons at Portman Road, Murphy has scored 67 times in 213 league appearances and was instrumental in the club’s charge into the playoffs in the 2014-15 campaign.

The Championship is widely regard as one of the most hard leagues in the world to win and with expectations sky high for Benitez from supporters and interested onlookers, Murphy might prove a savvy pick up given his knowledge of, and track record in, the league.
