Microsoft boasts of ‘obvious’ power gap between PS4 Pro and Scorpio

Microsoft believes the Xbox One Scorpio will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro when it launches next year.

Firstly, Microsoft has now confirmed the Scorpio will include a UHD drive (capable of playing 4K Blu-Ray discs), which the PS4 Pro doesn’t. The PlayStation 4 Pro will probably do well considering that players are looking forward to major limited-exclusivity titles like the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Resident Evil 7, but the 4K Blu-Ray functionality of Microsoft’s consoles could potentially tip the scales in Microsoft’s favor in the long run. Of course, there has been a lot of talks in the gaming industry about this, especially since the Xbox still doesn’t support 4K gaming.

In addition, Aaron Greenberg noted that the Project Scorpio Xbox will be more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro.

“I believe that the difference between what we’re going to deliver with Scorpio from a performance perspective and PS4 Pro will be obvious to customers”. When asked if Scorpio, too, will carry a $400 price tag, he said, “We know it’s important to deliver an experience that demonstrates the power gap between [the PS4 Pro and Scorpio] at a price that makes sense to console gamers”. That is still true.

“We were very confident when we made the announcement”. It was kind of a bold thing to say, given the rumors that were out there.

Sony and Microsoft’s rivalry over which company can produce the leading console is as strong as ever, with both companies revealing their plans for a slimmer variant of their existing consoles alongside more powerful versions of their consoles.

“Every game that you’re buying this holiday for Xbox One and Xbox One S is going to work on Scorpio, no problem”.

“So I think it is part of our vision to make it easier for developers to make console and PC games”.

The new console will feature 4K support, as well as HDR technology, improved resolution and more stable frame rates.
