Microsoft until now restricted its Word Flow Keyboard app to its own Windows Phone platform.

Microsoft is rolling out the popular Word Flow keyboard found on Windows phones to the iPhone 5s or newer models. It’s all very hush hush, but the big M has promised an App Store version is in the works. The email also says that it will release the keyboard to other platforms in the future. Usually, a public testing implies that the official release is no more than a few months away but Microsoft did not specify when the port will be finished.

While the firm’s operating system is still a leader in the world of PCs, the mobile version has never really made its mark, with Microsoft struggling to find a place in the market. This keyboard offer multiple features that combine to enhance the overall typing experience, such as swiping to write words, suggestions, and auto-corrections. This virtual keyboard uses exclusive technology that considerably speeds up text input on smartphones, as users don’t have to lift up their finger when typing words onscreen.

Many select users had received e-mails from Microsoft asking them to join the beta program.

The communication from Microsoft seems to represent the company’s ongoing transition from strictly a software vendor to a software services company. This would be a move similar to the launch of Cortana digital assistant on Android and iOS.

As of this writing there are no words on when the company plans to introduce it for the Android OS.

Will the Keyboard App Trend Stick with Apple?

Microsoft is really keeping with its current strategy of spreading its software around – much like Cortana with Android. Along with this, you also have the availability to hunt and peck words.

Word Flow has been a standout feature of Windows Phone 8.1 and now Windows 10 Mobile
