In an interview with The Daily Star UK, Xbox Services general manager Dave McCarthy said that this move is part of their aim to make the transition between consoles as smooth as possible.

In case you missed E3, Microsoft confirmed that a new and more powerful Xbox was in the works codenamed Project Scorpio. “Because you feeling you have to give up your games isn’t a good feeling, so we take that angst out of the equation. These are projects we didn’t even know existed until someone called us and told us about it, and this wouldn’t have been able to happen if you had to call us and speak to a salesperson”. McCarthy also said that the company’s retail partners are also in the trade-in partnership trend these days.

Next up you have to consider which games you really want to play.

Another point is that Microsoft wants to highlight regarding the compatibility of their platforms of Xbox One, Xbox One S and now Project Scorpio. The new Xbox Play Anywhere program lets gamers buy a game once and play it on both their Windows 10 PC and Xbox One console with shared progress, game saves and achievements.

Microsoft’s decision to announce the Scorpio project at E3 2016 a year and a half before its actual release (set for Holiday 2017) was hotly debated by industry figures and consumers alike.

What got everybody excited was the news about the Xbox One S controller’s bluetooth capability which allows gamers to connect it to their PCs. No details on what the trade-in program could bring or which consoles it will affect were given, but we have to hope for something good.

In fact, according to McCarthy, the Xbox Scorpio would be pretty affordable for those who now have an Xbox One.

Microsoft needs games like Cuphead and We Happy Few, both of which will be released on PC.
