The software firm said that until the fix is ready, it recommended people to install the most recent updates to its Office 2016 meant for Mac with the help of Microsoft AutoUpdate.

A Microsoft spokesperson, in a statement emailed to PC World, confirmed the problem and acknowledged there’s no fix in sight. This issue occurs only when Outlook tries to sync an account with the server. In addition to Office 2016, users are claiming that Outlook 2011 has the same fatal bug that’s causing it to crash as well. Computerworld installed 10.11.1 on multiple Macs Friday and although Office 2016 did not crash during that day’s work cycle, application failures have been intermittent enough in the past to make any judgment about the El Capitan update premature.

Meanwhile, Apple rival Google was busy unveiling new hardware, including the Nexus 6P and 5X smartphones, which we tested at the event to bring you our first impressions and consider how they may fare on the market.

Faisal Jeelani, a Microsoft senior programme manager, chimed in on a company support thread with a similar message.

Mac users hope that Apple and Microsoft will effectively resolve the problem and issue a solution as soon as possible. “Unfortunately we do not have any timelines for either fix, please stay tuned and thank you for your understanding”. It adds to an already streamlined interface provided by Mac OS X’s Mission Control feature, which takes all open windows and displays them in a single non-overlapping layer to allow quick transitions from one to another.

Spotlight-Apple’s Search Engine has become a little smarter in El Capitan.

The report said Jeelani’s support thread drew a few 21,000 views by the end of last week along with a few 200 messages. Customers who are running Office 2016 are running into a wide variety of problems. And the new Split View feature automatically positions two app windows side-by-side in full screen so you can work with both apps without distraction. “You can not blame Apple for this”.

It is worth noting that these might not be the final download times.

For those who are using Office 2016 apps on their Mac to monitor and accomplish their daily tasks, they might consider holding off from upgrading to the OS X El Capitan because it seems that this operating system has a few bugs up its sleeve that no one has yet found a way to fix.

OS X El Capitan is the twelfth major release of OS X Apple Inc.'s desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers
