If Microsoft’s actions are any indication, the latest incarnation of their tablet computer, the Surface Pro 4, may be unveiled soon. However, there have been several sources that have reported that the device will come in two sizes: One with a 12-inch screen and one with a 14-inch screen. With Windows 10 and the release of the new Surface 4, Microsoft could double that. The device was reportedly able to provide up to 7 hours and 27 minutes in Business News Daily’s custom battery life test. In comparison, the 13-inch Apple MacBook Air was able to churn out 12 hours and 20 minutes time in the custom test.

According to multiple reports, Microsoft is now giving discounts to its predecessor – Microsoft Surface Pro 3 – which many speculates that the upcoming next-generation Surface Pro release is nearing. More competition among and adoption of 2-in-1 detachable tablets is expected to prompt a growing percentage of larger screen-sized tablets in 2015 and beyond. The Surface Pro 3 with 128 GB internal storage, 4 GB of RAM and a 1.9GHz Intel Core i5 processor is now available for $899, down $100 from its original $999 price tag. Thanks to the housed Skylake processor, the slate is guaranteed to pack in some extra hours. It will also reportedly have Touch ID integrated in its home button.

Microsoft looks set to launch the Surface Pro 4 to the general public in November.

“Just as phablets (larger-screen smartphones) have eaten away at the smaller end of the tablet spectrum, the gulf between PCs and tablets is shrinking every day”, said Eric Smith, senior analyst of tablet and touchscreen strategies. New focus on business users is supposed a new attempt to renew interest in tablets. Once the device gets undocked, the option of switching to the tablet mode reportedly crops up.

To top it off, the long-awaited multitasking feature is also apparently part of the operating system. Shipping with the tablet is the N-Trig stylus that Nuckles said will make full use of the new stylus technology that Microsoft has hardcoded with the tablet, hardware and software-wise.

Microsoft Corporation’s gamble with the free Windows 10 upgrade to eligible users seems to have paid off. The official numbers indicate that the new OS now stands at 75 million installs within the first month of the launch.

For instance, Microsoft’s latest Edge Web browser features built-in inking capabilities. Microsoft Windows activation rates have also improved; from 4% to 10%.
