Microsoft delays next big tech release by four months

Hall adds that Microsoft will share additional shipment details and updates about the manufacturing process in August, while continuing to receive preorders. Microsoft is now developing business productivity and collaboration apps, but to explore the potential of the Surface Hub in education, the company has awarded grants to 10 researchers across the world.

Microsoft cited “strong demand” for Surface Hub devices as reason to “[tune its] manufacturing process to prepare for production at broader scale”. According to Engadget, the Surface Hub is a TV-sized tablet that is designed for use in collaborative teleconference and is aimed for large enterprises. This, of course, was the cause of the second delay we’re reporting on now.

According to ZD Net, there are interesting features of the Windows 10 that may be found on the Surface Pro 3, and they can expect those to make their way to the Surface Pro 4.

The Surface Hub was revealed as a collaborative conferencing tool in January of this year at Microsoft’s Windows 10-centric press event.

Microsoft isn’t selling flag-ship consumer-oriented smartphones, where timing is of the essence when considering a release date.

It’s certainly an impressive device, and it seems that businesses think it will be a useful tool for meetings and video conferences… The report claimed that if the Surface Pro 4 has been released alongside Windows 10, it would have divided the attention of the users.

As I said before, this delay isn’t worrying, but if January comes, and Microsoft delays their system once-again, then we might start to ask ourselves some questions. While the demand for the Surface Hub is encouraging for Microsoft, the company needs to seize the opportunity before a lower cost or more feature-packed alternative slips into the market. The price of 84 inch Surface Hub is $19,999.
