Microsoft Drops Fresh Windows 10 Builds For PC And Mobile Together

The known issues that the new build introduces, however, include problems where a PC may freeze or issue a Blue Screen of Death when woken from hibernation.

Windows phones also have some issues connecting to wireless displays, Microsoft said. In addition to this new Build 14271, Microsoft is also rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Build 14267.1004 for insiders in the fast ring. You are also allowed to replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the Windows key + X menu, choose taskbar location on lock screen, and decide how to combine taskbar buttons.

Both updates were pushed out overnight to testers signed up for Microsoft’s Windows Insider programme, which the company uses to evaluate upcoming features before they are merged into the release code.

The PC build is largely focussed on the bug fixes based on the feedback from Windows Insiders.

Head of the Windows Insider program, Gabe Aul, also noted that Microsoft will be locking the feedback setting starting with Build 14271 to “Automatically”.

We fixed the issue preventing Visual Voicemail notifications from happening.

We fixed an issue where some desktop (Win32) apps look missing from Start. You can disable hibernation to solve the first issue and use Windows Defender as a workaround for the second, but that’s up to you.

While the mobile releases are no where close to the weekly pattern on the desktop side, this quick turn around update for Windows 10 Mobile is significant.

Turning on the “always show all icons in the notification area” setting disrupts the layout of the notification area (“systray”).

When browsing in Microsoft Edge, charts displayed using D3.js library will not display correctly – e.g. render as black, positioned incorrectly. Known affected sites are Cortana, Bing.com, and PowerBI.com.

Microsoft’s new Mobile build, on the other hand, is worth downloading if you have one of the supported phones: the Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL, 650, and 550; the Xiaomi Mi4; and now the Alcatel ONETOUCH Fierce XL.

As far as Mobile build is concerned, Microsoft says the build is same which was released last week but with two important fixes and one new feature.
