According to the video interview with BBC, Microsoft’s HoloLens will be shipped to developers sometime during 2016.

Based on Nadella’s comments, it sounds like a consumer version of the device is still at least a few years away.
Microsoft just launched Windows 10 on Wednesday, but it’s their wireless virtual reality headset, the HoloLens, that people are really excited to get their hands on. It has been described as bulky, inefficient and uncomfortable to wear.
It’s no surprise that Microsoft’s augmented reality headset is hotly anticipated, but when can we actually get one? The company sees the support of third-party developers as a crucial factor for the group to reach its future goals.
First revealed in January alongside Windows 10 as part of Microsoft’s new suite of products, HoloLens is set to be one of the company’s most ambitious projects yet.
Anyone hoping to nip down the shops and pick up a headset looks to be in for a long wait however with Nadella stressing that he is looking to the longer term for the device with a five year window planned before it is fully consumer ready. “Holograms mixed with your real world will unlock all-new ways to create, communicate, work and play”.
Remember when Microsoft announced HoloLens earlier this year?

“I want us to push a lot more of the enterprise usage”, added Nadella. “That’s in our DNA”.
