Microsoft Issues Major Update for Xbox Music on Android and iOS

Microsoft has been working on a similar route for quite a while, and with their recent re-branding of the XBOX Music as “Groove”, they are moving forward towards the dawn of a new era in the world of IT and smartphones.

Like Apple Apple Music, Microsoft isn’t necessarily looking to get rid of the idea of downloading music, and the company doesn’t want people to forget about all those albums and songs that they did pay for back in the day. While we have very few doubts about Splinter Cell’s future – a new chapter is almost surely in the works – it could be interesting to see how fans will respond to less renown properties like Beyond Good & Evil.

Microsoft’s Xbox Music service’s new OneDrive integration feature, which was announced in March this year, has now reached the Xbox Music apps on the Android and iOS platforms. This is to actually separate the music service from the gaming brand connection, which has confused users from some time now.

Groove will offer ad-free music for downloads and playlists at $10 a month or $99 per year, similar to plans from Apple and Google.

Direct play for MKV will be available, so many MKV video files no longer require conversion before playback. There’s no diving through multiple apps just to get an idea of what your friends are playing, for example. Weekly new releases, access to TV shows a day after air, deals and discounts, and personalized recommendations just for you. However, an app update has been pushed to the Windows Store in Windows 10 Build 10162 that introduces the rebranded services app. A great many Xbox One gamers tether the console to the largest television set in the house, but that can be inconveniencing for other family members. Both Groove and Movies & TV apps will officially go live for Windows 10’s on its launch, July 29. Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communication Manager said that users can expect Microsoft’s media push across several other devices.
