Microsoft Launches Invite Meeting Scheduling App for iPhone
The company revealed that new app works best for School subscription users and Office 365 Business. Microsoft said it will hit Windows Phone and Android “soon“, but it’s now limited to iPhone users in the US and Canada.

Invite intends to do away with the hassles when it comes to scheduling meetings, and that would be the inability to check out other folks’ calendars who are not within your organization. As a result, your proposed meeting can be repeatedly declined until you find a time that works. They select the times they can attend, and once everyone has responded you pick the time that works best. Hailing from Microsoft Garage, an internal fast-track, cross-platform app development unit, Invite helps users organize meetings when their responsibilities take them away from their desks. They can then pick a preferred timeslot from the app or from a browser – they can even see what times other people have chosen.
Also, certain meetings on your attendee’s calendars could be easily moved if something more important were to come up-but only they know which ones.
Microsoft has in the past few years upped its app game and has in the past months acquired startups like Wunderlist, a to-do list, Acompli, a mobile email client, and the calendar app Sunrise.
Invite, the company explains, is an easier way to organise meetings on the go across organisations. People have their own schedules with different idiosyncrasies, so setting up a time that’s convenient usually involves a lengthy email or chat chain just to figure out when the meeting can happen. But Microsoft wants to ease your pain.

The new free app is another of those “experimental” products from Microsoft’s Garage incubator. Those users who sign up with another email address will send out a.ICS formatted invitation, which can be opened in Outlook and other popular calendar programs.
