A report appearing on Windows Central suggests that the phone will be announced on February 1.

It is rumored to have a 1.1 GHZ quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor.

The specs, via Windows Central, include a 5in screen with a 720p resolution and the choice of white or black matt finishes.

Clearly the Microsoft Lumia 650 then isn’t one of the company’s high profile devices, but the rumoured specifications paint an interesting picture.

The Microsoft Lumia 650 will most likely make it way to the United States, for a lower price. Later on, Microsoft planned to continue smartphone with a new initial name (Surface).

Microsoft is toning this down in an upcoming update, according to ex-Nokia imaging chief Juha Alakarhu who said Force HDR, a new way of selecting the quality of the photo, “is coming”. Its Lumia range has failed to gain mainstream attention or widespread appeal but Surface has become a well-known and respected productivity brand. Microsoft hopes to potentially apply the Surface recipe to provide the same boost to its smartphones as it was able to give to its tablet PCs. Some details of the plan remain unclear. These two are Microsoft’s crown-jewel devices and both of them have Windows 10 Mobile on board. Alternatively, the company could be intending to retain Lumia but only use it for its budget phones. A lot of disappointment surrounded the launch of its last flagship, the Lumia 950, so it wouldn’t be surprising for a Surface Phone to take its place instead. Developing numerous mid-range Lumia devices probably is not high among the company’s priorities, if this ends up being true.

KitGuru Says: With Microsoft looking to retire the Lumia brand, it will be interesting to see what Microsoft goes with next.

While there are speculations that the prompt messages could carry a bug, Vodafone’s support team has confirmed that older Windows Phone have began receiving updates to Windows 10 Mobile, the report relays.
