Microsoft is planning on hosting a massive event in October where it will reportedly launch the Surface Pro 4, the rumoured Lumia 950 and 950XL smartphones and the Microsoft Band 2. The news was first reported this morning by Chinese site WPDang and quickly confirmed by The Verge. Microsoft is set to talk about Windows 10-related hardware at Berlin’s IFA in September, but would likely introduce any big updates at a standalone event.

Meanwhile, although Microsoft has already released a slightly watered-down version of the device in the budget-friendly Surface 3 tablet, many fans are expecting that the company will be announcing the Surface Pro 3 successor soon. Both phones are expected to support Windows 10’s new “continuum for phone” feature: Connect a $99 desktop docking station that lets you connect a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to run Universal Windows apps in a desktop-like environment, complete with a taskbar, start menu, and resizeable windows.

One of the potential odd-balls of the event could be the Microsoft Band, the fitness device that launched in October 2014 to mixed reviews.

The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL (previously referred to as the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL) are widely rumored to arrive as Microsoft’s next-generation flagship smartphones, boasting advanced specs and features such as an Iris scanner, among the highlights. On top of all the action Microsoft has planned there are supposedly two hardware-related “surprises” in store for the event. Besides the devices above WPDang that there would also be a new slim Xbox One. As per past reports, the Lumia 950 (Talkman) is said to have a 5.2-inch WQHD (1440×2560) display.
