Microsoft Pays $10000 to a Woman for Forcing Windows 10 Installation
According to reports by BBC, Software giants, Microsoft Corp. paid-off a Californian woman, Teri Goldstein $10,000 (roughly 3.4million ugx) after an automatic Windows 10 update left her computer unusable. I can confidently say this whole ordeal is true as my sister’s Toshiba laptop originally running Windows 7 was unexpectedly upgraded to Windows 10 one day without her knowing it.

However, that aggressive expansion may be coming back to bite Microsoft, as the company just agreed to pay a California woman $10,000 over an unwanted installation of Windows 10. Even without a culpability admission, Microsoft has made a payment to someone who claimed to be unaware of Windows 10 and to not understand the upgrade process.
Much has been said about Microsoft’s sometimes deceptive ways in which it has been “encouraging” people to upgrade to Windows 10.
At the time the company said the upgrade would prompt users before the install takes place. She tried dealing with Microsoft Windows support to resolve her issues, but they failed to do so – so she sued.
Scores of people have been complaining about the questionable ways Microsoft imposes Windows 10 on them.
Whether the lawsuit and $10,000 judgment will spawn further suits over failed or forced Windows 10 installs remains to be seen.
“I had never heard of Windows 10”, Goldstein told the newspaper. And in May, it changed the behavior of the “x” button, which is normally used to close windows or dismiss alerts, so that clicking it opted users into the upgrade.
The new operating system launched a year ago and the USA tech firm has been pushing it on Windows fans ever since.

Microsoft has been criticised over Windows 10, which it has been aggressively pushing to users. In fact, there is a free upgrade offer which will elapse by July, and Microsoft is encouraging everybody to take advantage of this offer. However, it has been criticised for the way it has pushed the update onto users. It will be available to buy for $119 for Windows 10 Home version.
