“This past year was pivotal in both our own transformation and in partnering with our customers who are navigating their own digital transformations”, said chief executive Satya Nadella.

Microsoft (MSFT – Analyst Report) just released its fourth-quarter earnings results, posting earnings of $0.69 per share and revenue of $22.6 billion.

Vetr increased its shares in the company to a “strong-buy” from a “buy” rating and set a $57.13 target price for Microsoft Corp in a research report posted June 14. Operating income in this segment was up significantly to $0.96 billion, which is a 59% gain compared to a year ago.

Nadella, well into his third year at the helm, has been reorienting Microsoft’s business around cloud and productivity services to fuel growth as traditional software sales shrink. It’s helped drive up Microsoft’s stock price by 15 percent over the past year, despite sluggish sales of PC software and the near-collapse of its floundering smartphone business.

Revenues were still down 7 percent to Dollars 20.61 billion, due to deferral of some Windows revenues, but rose 5 percent excluding currency effects. And yet we still don’t know how many Microsoft is pushing out, as the number includes accessories and older Surface devices.

Year over year, Microsoft’s adjusted revenue declined 2% to $91.9 billion from $93.5 billion. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $22.14 billion for the quarter.

Microsoft’s productivity software business also grew significantly. The company now has roughly 350 million monthly active devices using it, but adoption has been slower-than-expected, despite the fact that the company rolled out the upgrade for free. Sales fell 8.8% to $85.32 billion in fiscal 2016.

The company said that its annual cloud revenue run rate was $12.1 billion.
