Microsoft Releases Skype for Business App for iOS
Microsoft announced this morning that Skype for Business iOS is now available as a new universal app in the iTunes Store. iPhone users will get the upgrade from Lync 2013 automatically, but iPad users will need to download the new app manually from the store.

Skype for business has been in preview mode for iOS since August, meaning that it was available solely for exclusive users, who reported back to Microsoft for further development.

Its Android and iOS counterparts debuted in preview two months ago.
Among the changes on the new iOS app are an updated dashboard, which should make it easier to see upcoming meetings and recent chats.
The contact search bar lets you find contacts by first name, last name, email alias, or even a phone number.

Other advance functions in Dialer include Truecaller-like ability to pull in information about the caller, contact information lookup (including offices and nearby places), as well as a quick-action button to block spam calls. Available as a universal app from the App Store starting today, Skype for Business replaces Lync 2013. In addition, simultaneous view of shared content and speaker’s video is also available with the new update as well. In the meantime, users can only view PowerPoint slides via desktop sharing. IT administrators have the option to set up multi-factor authentication, which would require users to receive a call, text message, or app notification after entering their username and password. The new app provides business and enterprise users with enhanced security and better integration with Microsoft’s Active Directory. “Other Office applications also support ADAL-based authentication, which allows for consistent authentication across your organization”, writes Microsoft on its blog. After allowing just any Android user to give a spin to its Next Lock Screen, its Office suite of apps, its voice assistant Cortana, and an Android launcher, the Redmond-based tech giant is now entertaining the idea of releasing its home-developed dialer app for Google’s platform. Microsoft wants to build Skype into all its products and services.
