Microsoft reveals Xbox One S and Project Scorpio
Microsoft’s bold statement of the new console being the most powerful will have to be challenged by Sony and Nintendo. It wasn’t the only new model of Xbox One in attendance at the Los Angeles Convention Center though, given the slimmer Xbox One S was also showcased at the event. One of those is support for 4K Ultra HD video including 4K Blu-ray playback and HDR.

Dubbed Xbox One S, the new console, available in August, is 40 per cent smaller than the current model and, usefully, will integrate the power supply into the chassis itself, so no more bulky adapter. Following months of speculation and rumours, Microsoft revealed during its E3 2016 conference that the revised Xbox One model – now dubbed Project Scorpio – will house a more powerful GPU, eight CPU cores, support 4K and deliver high-fidelity virtual reality experiences.
Yesterday at its E3 keynote, Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox One S console, a redesigned, slimmer and cooler version of the original Xbox One. If you’re looking for something you can get your hands on sooner, then the Xbox One S just might be for you.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced the Xbox One successor, codenamed “Project Scorpio”, and described it as “the most powerful console ever”.
Microsoft also shifted one of the three USB ports and the pairing button to the front of the Xbox One S alongside the newly added IR blaster.
Spencer did not reveal the specific release date, and said it is coming “holiday 2017”, however, the enhanced version of the Xbox One is expected to launch sometime next fall.

“The unit “teraflop” was named in order to make grownups sound ridiculous at video game conferences”, wrote Malcolm Barseclap. Players with Windows 10 PC and Xbox One users can play together. Now you can customize your controllers with custom colors, and even your Gamertag.
