Microsoft’s Display Dock will turn your phone into a Windows 10 PC

The Lumia 950. The new Microsoft Display Dock accessory can connect the phone to a monitor and transform it for larger-screen entertainment, or add a keyboard and mouse to work like a PC.

As the name suggests, the Lumia 950 XL is the larger variant sporting a 5.7-inch screen as opposed to the 5.2-inch screen on the Lumia 950.

Microsoft also announced updates to its HoloLens headset, revealing that a developer’s kit will be available in the first quarter of 2016 for $3000. The device’s graphics chip is in the base, which means it’s less powerful in tablet mode but can still be used for the majority of tablet-oriented tasks that users might want.

Microsoft’s latest tablet, the Surface Pro 4, will also be launched in October and is reportedly 50% faster than Apple’s Macbook Air.

Microsoft also said its new tablet and smartphones will come with Windows Hello an automatic biometric sign-in option introduced earlier this year.

“With Windows 10 and these new Microsoft devices, you are at the centre of magical new experiences”, said Satya Nadella, chief executive of Microsoft.

The devices unveiled Tuesday, including Lumia phones, are created to take advantage of the Windows 10 platform for cross-functionality. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM, along with 32GB of storage. It has a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and further specs include 4G LTE connectivity and USB Type-C port.

Though Microsoft says that the Surface Book is twice as fast as the MacBook Pro, data and statistics have yet to be presented to back up the claim In the demo, however, the Surface Book snapped to heavy tasks and switched apps easily. He told us Microsoft’s approach demonstrated a “new and exciting” way of looking at its hardware nearly as new classifications of devices.

It is supposed to have 32 GB of storage onboard with expansion capabilities of up to 2 TB with the help of a micro SD card.

And then you’ll have to consider how that December date might not apply to all supported devices.

According to report, the Microsoft Surface Book is expected to launch in Australia on November 12.
