At the company’s most recent hardware announcement, Microsoft boasted of its new Surface devices that mostly laid focus on two Windows 10-powered smart phones, the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL. It operates on a 1.1 GHz quad-core processor, the Snapdragon 210, and sports a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720p HD display.

Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.29 to locked and unlocked Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices.
The only difference here, though, is the Lumia 550 is DIRT cheap, costing just $139 – basically NOTHING compared to a lot of today’s handsets, even budget Android ones. Lumia 950 offers 8GB worth of internal memory, as well as a microSD slot in case one wants to expand the storage capacity. All you Snapchat users will be happy to know there’s a 2-megapixel front-facing camera on the Lumia 550, and for regular photos (such as food shots for posting to social media), there’s a 5-megapixel shooter around back. “Other regions around the globe will follow in the coming weeks”, said Microsoft in a official blog post.
What is interesting to find out is if this device will be able to enhance Microsoft’s market share.
There is a Glance screen on the phone; wherein you would see the calendar appointments, notifications, time, and date, displayed in standby mode. Also, the Continuum feature is non-existent; users who use Microsoft apps on the Lumia like Word and Excel would have to save it first on OneDrive to access it on a Windows 10 computer.

Though the Lumia 550 is very much a budget phone, it is not the cheapest Lumia-brand smartphone. You’ll also find a down-sized 2,100mAh battery under the hood, which Microsoft is claiming will offer up 14 hours of talk-time.
