Microsoft starts tackling game developer complaints in Universal Windows apps
Microsoft really wants developers to create apps and games for the Universal Windows Platform (the kind of apps you can download from the Windows Store).

The fact that Windows Store apps didn’t support unlocked frame rates (or disabling Vsync, to put it another way) from the start was a farce to begin with, but the nightmare’s ending with Tuesday’s update.
While this is great news for those with the Lumia Icon it is not a guarantee that the device will become an eligible handset for the Current Branch release of Windows 10 for mobile.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is working to ensure that it delivers its planned Windows 10 Anniversary Update in July as evidenced by small updates; even the underlying code is prepped for the larger update in the next 2 months. We expect Gears of War: UE and Forza Motorsport 6: Apex to lead the way by adding this support in the very near future.
Windows 10 will be updated today to enable support for unlocked framerates and AMD Freesync/NVIDIA G-SYNC in Universal Windows Platform games and apps. V-sync can reduce the presence of certain visual artifacts-it prevents a phenomenon called tearing, wherein the top half of the screen shows one frame and the bottom half of the screen shows a different, newer frame-but it also limits the frame rate that applications can run at.
Now all of this happened in mid to late March, about six weeks ago, and last week users of the Icon finally got some movement on their handset being able to access the latest mobile builds of Windows 10.
“With Windows 10, DirectX 12 games which take up the entire screen perform just as well as the old full screen exclusive mode without any of the full screen exclusive mode disadvantages”.

In a blog post on the DirectX Developer blog, Microsoft announced that alongside the regular security fixes that will be going out today as part of Patch Tuesday, the Universal Windows Platform will also be getting some improvements of its own.
