Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Release Could Be Delayed To 2016

It’s not been exactly hard to get your hands on a Surface slate, but Microsoft is set to dramatically expand the number of partners selling its touch-screen devices in the coming months. “This expansion of our partnerships is directly related to our optimism for much broader success that will come with the release of Windows 10“, says Brian Hall, General Manager, Surface.

According to CRN, Microsoft is trying to extend the Surface tablets reseller base, by inviting new companies to become partners in order to exclusively resell Microsoft’s flagship tablets. Previously, the Surface Pro 3 successor was expected to be launched at the same time or shortly after the Windows 10 launch. The SSDs built using Samsung’s Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) technology is capable of transferring data at 2 GB/s which is over three times the speed of the Surface Pro 3’s 600 MB/s. This would be a dramatic increase that would differentiate between the Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4. It seems that Samsung is going to deliver over 20 million 256GB SSDs in the second half of 2016. According to the reports that surfaced this week, Microsoft is planning to push back the intended release of the Surface Pro 4 to as late as the latter part of next year. What we do not understand though is why there is a lack of information, and a clue as to when the Surface Pro 4 announcement will take place? With other words, this will be an ultra-portable laptop that will be enjoyed by many business people.

Although the current Surface Pro 3 is still one of the undisputed workhorses of choice for many, Microsoft fans are already waiting anxiously for the next in line in the company’s hybrid and 2-in-1 series.
