Microsoft takes a cheeky swipe at Sony’s new PlayStation 4 Pro console

Those are some mighty strong statements to throw out there, but seeing how Sony has fully unveiled their latest PlayStation 4 Pro, Microsoft could be holding true to their word. However, when you use a PS4 Pro with a 4K display, it will be rendered at 1440p or higher while remaining at 60fps. It’ll also remain at 60fps.

Sony’s beefed up PS4 console is finally here and its firepower may even impress some PC gamers.

It’s the first console to support 4K gaming, but you’ll need a 4K TV to experience the extra resolution. PS4 Pro will be released in November.

The new PlayStation Pro, much like the Xbox One boasts of support for HDR besides being able to play back 4K videos as well. Given that Microsoft also has a slimmer version of the Xbox One in the form of the Xbox One S, this did not really come as a surprise. It comes just three years after the original PS4 was released and marks a major departure from the typically longer refresh cycles for consoles. Sony is bringing HDR support to all PS4 consoles.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will run games and streaming videos at upscaled 4K resolution, but those UHD Blu-rays dotting the shelves at Best Buy?

Games available: Final Fantasy XV, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona5, The Last Guardian, Thumper, and more.

At the same NY event, held just hours after the Apple one, Sony also released a slimmed down version of the PS4.
