Microsoft won’t be holding a press conference at Gamescom

Microsoft has officially revealed their plans for Gamescom 2016, and a press conference is not included.

Gamescom 2016 will take place August 18-August 21 in Cologne, Germany.

There’s more time between E3 and Gamescom than there was in 2015, but it feels like a similar situation to what we saw past year with Sony, who felt there was not enough of a gap between the two and not enough for them to announce at that time.

However, this does not mean that Microsoft is skipping the event, instead, they are planning a “more intimate” experience for the community which they are calling an Xbox FanFest.

However, Microsoft will not have a media briefing at the event this year.

The plans were announced on Xbox Wire, and they look pretty good. Should you be attending, you’ll be able to get your hands-on with some of the upcoming blockbusters like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, and more.

Microsoft has already played its hand – at E3 it announced the slimmer Xbox One S model for release this summer and the souped-up Scorpio project for next year, which will be its own answer to PS4K.

It isn’t yet clear whether Sony will be holding a press conference this year, either, with the platform holder having sat out last year’s show.
