Microtransactions Hit Destiny Through Emotes and Silver
Now, we all know that Destiny, as of this morning, features in-game purchases, making itself even more willing to take all the money you can throw at it. That might seem annoying and fiscally intrusive, but come on, people.

So far, Silver can only be spent to redeem one of the eighteen available emotes from Tess Everis, a returning vendor at the Eververse Trading Company in the Tower.
Once Destiny is back up and running and you’ve installed update 2.0.1, the paid emotes will go live, the Shot Package will be removed from all shotguns, and you’ll be able to participate in the revamped Iron Banner. At the moment, the only way to obtain Silver is with real-world money (although Bungie has deposited 400 Silver into every account so you can try it out). There are actually two tiers of emotes (thus far), Legendary and Rare.

If you’re seeing a download of 18 GB (as opposed to the 500 MB update that today’s patch should be), you might be dealing with a corrupted patch. So even if you have no interest in having your Guardian dancing the Carlton, you’ll still be getting something out of this arrangement. This emote is known as the “Enthusiastic” dance. One can’t attain such funkiness for free, I guess.
