The Pence nomination has created what some might call a odd political scenario in IN state Republican politics.

Holcomb was nominated to fill the remainder of Sue Ellspermann’s term as the lieutenant governor when Ellspermann resigned in March 2016 to become the president of Ivy Tech Community College.

Under state election law, Pence is not permitted to be on the ballots for both the gubernatorial and vice presidential races.
The house speaker also likened Pence to former President Ronald Reagan when he said that Pence “is a Reagan conservative through and through, pro-growth, pro-life, pro-strong defense”. When asked, 84 percent of Latinos said Pence’s immigration record, which includes his sponsorship of a bill denying citizenship to children born in the U.S.to undocumented parents and his congressional vote to block undocumented immigrants from accessing hospital care when he served in Congress makes them less likely to vote for Donald Trump in November. The woman, Meredith McIver, who has ghost-written for Donald Trump before, said it was her fault: Melania had read her some ideas over the phone; she wrote them into her notes; added them into a draft; and they wound up in the speech. “If he gives it”, Trump said, “I will not accept it”.
Pence made at least one significant misstep as Indiana’s governor in the eyes of many religious freedom advocates and social conservatives.
Kim Gurtler, who is attending the convention with her husband, an alternative delegate from Georgia, said she didn’t know much about Pence when he was announced.
“We have but one choice and that man is ready”.
“It was incredibly substantive, very well delivered, and, frankly, I think he set the bar high for his dad”, Page said.
“He’s a doer in a game usually reserved for talkers”, Pence said.
While numerous claims Donald Trump made about his running mate while introducing him Saturday are technically true, the context of the claims shows a more complicated picture of Indiana’s economic picture under Pence. He did, however, praise Trump for “not tip-toeing around the thousand of new rules of political correctness” and being “the genuine article”, but it was praise without substance. “I mean if that was The New York Times, they would have gotten Pulitzer Prizes for their reporting”. Trump’s fundraising efforts have been spotty at best.
The entire hall started applauding Mr. Pence.
