Mike Pence endorses Paul Ryan, a day after Donald Trump declined to

It’s safe to say that until a few days ago, the average consumer of political news had no idea who Paul Nehlen was.

“Well look, it takes time to have relationships together”.

“Why does he weigh in on issues that, on the negative side, every time with Mr. Trump?”. If he didn’t, Nehlen said, he should tear down the fence around his house.

“He has said he’s going to sue Mr. Trump”.

He says Trump, “strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan in next Tuesday’s primary”.

Ryan has since come around to saying he will vote for Trump, though the nation’s top Republican elected official has publicly rebuked Trump on several occasions for controversial statements on a Mexican-American judge, a proposal to ban Muslim immigration and his recent feud with the Muslim parents of a U.S. Army soldier who was killed fighting in Iraq. “I mean it’s flattering comments certainly”.

“I know she’s given me no support – zero support – and yet I’m leading her in the polls”, Trump said of Ayotte.

Mr Trump said the grieving father had “no right” to criticise him, only later acknowledging their son is a hero. “So what I said is John McCain, I disagree with him that these people aren’t insane”. Those included Trump’s refusal to endorse GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan’s re-election and his continued criticism of the family of a slain USA soldier.

Trump also tweeted thanks at Nehlen “for your kind words” on Monday.

Trump’s latest interview deepens a split with McCain, who has periodically slammed the real-estate mogul’s remarks. Obama asked. “This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe”.

Ryan’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

On Tuesday, Trump said he was “not quite” ready to endorse Ryan.

They join dozens of high-profile GOP leaders who have previously said they would not vote for Trump, including the party’s 2012 nominee, Mitt Romney, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. “I’m not quite there yet”.

It’s very similar to what Ryan said about endorsing Trump back in May.

Among all registered voters in his district – not just Republicans – 53% viewed Ryan favorably and 34% viewed him unfavorably. “I’m not there right now”, Ryan replied. Trump also declined to endorse U.S. Sen.

Trump’s stunning slap at two of the nation’s most prominent Republicans dramatically escalated GOP turmoil barely a week after a convention meant to promote party unity.

Trump’s incendiary and often off-the-cuff rhetoric on Muslims, women and Mexican immigrants has drawn widespread criticism, including from some Republicans.

However, Trump loyalist Corey Lewandowski dismissed reports yesterday evening of dissent and disarray in Mr Trump’s camp. Ryan’s statement was in response to Trump’s retaliation against Ghazala and Khizr Khan, the Gold Star parents who appeared at the Democratic National Convention last week with a message critical of Trump. “Just want to Make America Great Again”.

In an interview with CNN, Paul Nehlen, a local Wisconsin businessman, said that Ryan should be doing more to support the Republican nominee.

“I’ve never been there with John McCain because I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets”, Trump told the newspaper Tuesday.
