Mike Pence: I accepted Trump’s VP offer to stop Clinton
Pence sidestepped commenting on Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, saying, “I think this is a good man who has been talking issues the America people care about”.

The formal announcement of a vice-presidential running mate is, more often than not, about introducing the candidate.
After the terror attacks in France and the u-s, Trump pledged his ticket has a mission.
Donald Trump has officially introduced Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his vice presidential running mate.
Pence had served “with distinction” in Congress and as the chairman of the House Republican Conference, Trump said and added that he has the skills of a highly talented executive.
“It looks like a tremendous success from a military standpoint”, Trump said in a March 2003 interview.
“He is a tremendous man!”
Pence depicted the presumptive Republican ticket, just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention, as embracing traditional Republican values of smaller government, fiscal responsibility and strong national defense while describing his rise as a “small-town boy” in IN who served in Congress before winning the governorship of his state.
Trump said, “We are the law and order candidates”.
“They got crushed”, Trump said. Mr Trump appeared relieved to have got the formalities out of the way while Mr Pence gave little sign of emotion.
Trump used the Saturday news conference to roundly criticize Clinton. Pence, the reality television star said, was “highly respected” and a “highly talented” executive that led the state of IN to job growth.
Trade? Pence said that while he supports free trade, he agrees with Trump that current agreements should be revisited. “Donald Trump understands the frustrations and the hopes of the American people like no leader since Ronald Reagan”.
“I could feel the excitement”, Sue Saunders said.
Jacob Whatley, who was also at the rally, says it’s Pence’s commitment to social conservatism in particular that has him jumping off the fence, squarely into the “Vote Trump” camp.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton’s campaign denounced Pence for his record, calling him “the most extreme pick in a generation and was one of the earliest advocates for the tea party”.
Trump, in his speech, also unwittingly highlighted another policy point where the two diverged: the Iraq war.
The candidate and his aides reacted angrily over news leaks Thursday about Pence’s selection.
Pence, along with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, were considered the front runners for the job.
Before joining Mr Trump’s ticket, Mr Pence had endorsed Ted Cruz, the real estate mogul’s closest rival in the Republican primary race.

This time, Trump insisted in a TV interview late Thursday that he hadn’t made a “final, final decision” even after he had summoned Pence to NY.
