Mike Pence’s sister-in-law is RNC delegate, excited to nominate him

Trump also said that as president, he would dispatch “very few troops on the ground” to fight the Islamic State in the Middle East. And he appeared to want to recast his controversial proposal to ban most foreign Muslims as a territorial prohibition.

Described as an “awkward marriage” and “painful train-wreck”, the interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes show aired on Sunday, just hours before the Republican National Convention is due to open in Cleveland.

Donald Trump: Yeah, you went to Iraq, but that was handled so badly. “We need toughness, we need strength”, says Donald Trump.

Pence’s speech had strong themes about declaring war on radical Islamic terrorism and taking the fight to them, rather than trying to lead from behind and getting nowhere.

“What do you mean, you don’t care that he voted for [it]?” “He is very famous and (has) been in the public eye for a long time, but he hasn’t been a duo with anyone”. They were also misled. “This is what Trump does to people”.

“I think it helps but I don’t think I needed him, no, because I won with evangelicals”, Trump said.

Jared Bernstein, senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, told “Squawk on the Street” on Monday that he isn’t sure that Pence is the best running mate choice for Trump.

But when Pence tried to explain Trump’s free-form rhetoric, saying he speaks not like a politician, but from the heart, Trump clarified.

Interviewer Lesley Stahl asked Pence, who has said negative campaigning is wrong, what he thought of the tone of Trump’s campaign, including Trump’s giving his opponents nicknames like “Lyin’ Ted”.

“I come to this moment deeply humbled but with a grateful heart”, he said. Just so we understand.
