Husker Nation is mourning the loss of punter Sam Foltz after he died in a vehicle crash in Wisconsin.
Testimonials to the character of both young men have rolled in from across the league and around the country, including this moving tribute by Kevin Sjuts, sports director at KOLN/KGIN-TV in Lincoln.
A third man-LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, 21, from New Iberia, Louisiana, was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
Dan Tracy with Kohl’s Kicking said both Sadler and Foltz had been working at a weekend clinic at the camp in Wisconsin. Their vehicle lost control on a wet road, according to police.
By the time a prayer vigil outside the stadium began on Sunday afternoon, a Nebraska helmet with Foltz’s No. 27 already rested at the foot of the Brook Berringer statue outside Memorial Stadium, which memorializes legendary coach Tom Osborne and Berringer, a former Huskers quarterback who died in a plane crash in 1996.
Foltz, 22, won the named the conference’s top punter as a junior and he was on the Ray Guy Award watch list entering this season.
CBS affiliate KOLN in Lincoln, Nebraska, reports senior Sam Foltz was killed.
Meanwhile, Michigan State University head coach for football Mark Dantonio too Twitter to mourn over the death of Mike Sadler. It was one of the best things to come out of the day because it perfectly honored the Spartan great – showed that there is more to life than football.
“Cant say anything to make it better. or make you feel better.just wanted to be together”, said Riley.
According to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, Foltz was a passenger in a Mercedes-Benz sedan traveling westbound on Beaver Lake Road at 11:43 p.m. “He was the guy with the brightest light, the brightest guy in the room and when I heard that, it was all I could think about”. Speed appears to be a factor in the traffic crash. He was the Big Ten’s punter of the year last year.
Riley said his “main purpose” in meeting with the players was “just seeing them” more so than what he had to say.
Sadler was a four-year starter and four-time academic All-American at Michigan State.
“It was insane because I saw both of them on Saturday before I came back to UConn”, Puyol said. “We’re asking for people to please pray for the families of the two boys”.
Sadler was popular on social media, known for his humor. This isn’t supposed to happen to young people who have so much to live for.

Neither got the time they deserved. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends in this time of sorrow”.
