One potential issue with Shanahan, however, is that, according to Rapoport, it isn’t clear the Super-Bowl winning head coach is completely committed to the idea of returning to coaching.
It’s mentioned in the report that this will be Shanahan’s second interview with Miami, with the first coming on December 22nd in NY, which is where the next meeting will take place.
Shanahan has a career record of 178-144(including playoffs) in 20 seasons coaching the Raiders (1988-89), Broncos (1995-2008) and Redskins (2010-14).
While coaching Denver he saw the most success, leading the franchise to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998. The team has not confirmed the interview, typically waiting until after the interview is complete to make any official announcement. According to Salguero, the Dolphins are now interviewing former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith.
The Miami Dolphins are lining up candidates for their head coaching vacancy.
The Dolphins finished a disappointing season with a 6-10 record.
