Miles says Fournette is ‘full speed ahead’

A success the Bulldogs claimed was there for their taking. Tight end Foster Moreau covered the loose ball, but a replay review ruled Fournette fumbled behind the line to gain for the first down. I think they care more about their cocktails at the tailgate than the game in the stadium.

“He’s faster than Dak and a little bit more explosive than Dak with the ball in his hands”, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said. The Tigers were literally a foot from locking it up at seven minutes of the game, when back Leonard Fournette went left to convert a 4th-and-one. Receivers stopped dropping balls.

23-13 would have been just statistics. The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick then scored again and it was 23-20.

Williams capped his first drive of the game with a 1-yard touchdown drive on a sneak.

Mullen, with two timeouts and a rested defense, opted not to on-sides this kickoff.

Only two plays, sure. He lost a yard on the play and had to come out of the game.

As Les Miles said, if they pick up the fourth down late in the fourth quarter, it’s a walk in the park from there. Malachi Dupre led them with four catches for 54 yards. “He scored a touchdown and threw a touchdown”.

Still, Etling’s new challenge will be one he couldn’t have possibly prepared for. The technical difficulties continued in a way for Miles’ first questioner, who was the Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s Bob Holt, who does not have as much experience with Miles frequent contradictions as do LSU beat reporters in Louisiana. The big question that jumps out at me with next week’s Auburn game is how will Etling and this LSU team respond to a hostile SEC environment. A 27-yard pass to Ross put MSU at the 3-yard line for first-and-goal. Fournette ran for touchdowns of 5 and 25 yards as LSU led 20-0 in the second quarter.

In the second period it was Fournette showing off his read, steps, strength and speed. Chark had three catches for 52 yards. Mississippi State lost its opener in a stunner but bounced back by dominating SC and now has a 1-1 record.

The Tigers delivered points and excitement early in the game. It is a work in progress, but I think probably the thing is that their attitude and has been and is very good. “But when we needed to, we stiffened and made the play”.

“The first half I think guys were anxious about some wrong things”, Mullen said. Stay engaged on the sidelines and in practice, Brandon, and you may get another shot. “We talked about that at halftime”. However, only a 37-yard Graves field goal at 6:41 resulted. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 34-29 in 2014. Defensive tackle Lewis Neal had 1.5 sacks for -7 yards.

LSU’s Leonard Fournette was a spectator last weekend after an ankle injury.

Key had five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks, in LSU’s 23-20 win over Mississippi State, along with adding a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry as the Tigers limited the Bulldogs to 56 rushing yards.

“A conference opponent, and we come away with a victory”, Miles said.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio injured his left knee in a 32-0 victory against North Texas on Saturday night, a huge concern as the Gators prepare to play at No. 15 Tennessee next week. “(Mississippi State) gets back in the game when it should not have been”.

Then, after LSU went three-and-out, the Bulldogs had one more chance.

Senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw two touchdown passes to junior receiver Josh Malone as Tennessee sidestepped an upset bid by OH to post a victory in non-conference play at Knoxville, Tenn. Fitzgerald was 12-of-24 for 120 yards.

Any team is better with Fournette at full strength, but just how healthy is he?
