For Miley Cyrus, this of course means appearing on “The Today Show” to discuss not only being a judge on the coming season, but also why she wanted to do the show in the first place. We know by now that Cyrus has an affinity for sticking her tongue out and profanities, and so it was inevitable that both would make an appearance from the mouth of the unassuming star. “Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m “important”? Because I’m “famous”?” she said, explaining her reasoning.
“I will never do a red carpet again”, she told the publication. “That’s not how I roll”. “It’s really not about the colour of the carpet”.
The singer/actress felt sexualised whenever she walked a red carpet.
“I don’t want people to talk about what I’m wearing. That’s usually why I don’t wear too much, but they make me wear clothes on The Voice and on the Today show, so this is what I chose”, she said, referring to the very tablecloth-y, red checkered ensemble she wore to the interview.
The young singer’s boycott of the age old Hollywood tradition of red carpets is just another example of her not caring what people think about her.
