One militant and a civilian were killed on Monday in Udhampur district of Jammu province in a shootout with security forces in an attack on a CRPF camp.
The incident reportedly took place when CRPF men were checking a state transport bus in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Militants linked to anti-India jihad outfit targeted a joint training camp of state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Kud region. “It was just the random checking of the vehicles when the police and the CRPF team were attacked, while the militant was gunned down, three civilians including two women and a child were injured in the firing”, the DGP said.
A police official told The Hindu the gunfire is on between the militants and the security forces. He said that the identity of the slain militant is being ascertained and also trying to locate from where he boarded the bus. The bullets injured three jawans and a female passenger, who succumbed to her injuries later.
