Miller gives up 11 hits in Arizona’s 5-2 loss to Dodgers

Greinke will be making his first trip to Los Angeles to see his former team, but he picked up the win versus the Dodgers on June 13 after permitting two runs in seven frames of a 3-2 triumph.Maeda will be pitching on six days’ rest for the third time in his last four starts on Monday.

Kenta Maeda (14-8) allowed one run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings, struck out eight and walked one to tie Kazuhisa Ishii and Hyun-Jin Ryu for the second-most wins by a Los Angeles rookie, trailing only Rick Sutcliffe’s 17 in 1979.

The right-hander gave up a season-high-tying 11 hits in Arizona’s 5-2 loss to the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night, the Diamondbacks’ fourth defeat in six games.

Miller (2-11) continued his downward spiral this season allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits with just two strikeouts in 4 and 1/3 innings.

There’s obviously some good (Los Angeles) pitchers, and you get to the ninth with the Dodgers and you’re behind, it’s very hard.

After Howie Kendrick grounded out to open the fifth, Greinke gave up five consecutive hits.

The very next inning Greinke imploded as he gave up 6 hits and 6 runs with all of the runs coming on home runs by Joc Pederson, Seager, Justin Turner, and Yasmani Grandal.

Mariners 14, Rangers 6: Robinson Cano homered during a five-run first inning, and Seattle pulled away with a six-run sixth inning. We’re facing good-caliber pitchers from the left-handed side. Storylines: Miller will be looking to build upon last week’s promising outing vs. the Giants following his return from the minor leagues, but he’ll have to do it against a Dodgers’ lineup that has cranked up the power in recent weeks.

Even though he was removed after throwing 66 pitches, Stripling said “I’m happy to get through five when you’re not working with your normal stuff”. His career high for innings pitched in a season is 127-2/3, back in 2013. Now, they are in pursuit of a fourth, while the D-backs have failed to contend this season and are mired in next-to-last place.

Kenta Maeda took the mound for Los Angeles, sporting 13 wins and a solid year in his first season as an Major League Baseball pitcher since coming from Japan. LHP Scott Kazmir (neck inflammation) will make a rehab start Wednesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. RHP Pedro Baez will rejoin the team on Tuesday now that Double-A Tulsa’s season has ended.

All that offense helped Stripling on the mound, where he was sharp in his five innings.

Seager began the inning by lining a double off the base of the fence down the right field line. The right-hander has struck out 30 and walked 13.

With San Francisco teetering on the edge of defeat in Colorado as I write, they’ll fall to 3.5 games back of the Dodgers. He has a 3.72 ERA in two games (one start) against Arizona this season, limiting the opposition to a.229 average.
