Canadians with a freezer full of frozen fruits and vegetables will likely be scouring through the products that could be included in one of the largest food recalls in recent memory.
A recall of frozen foods has been expanded to more than 350 products sold under 42 brands, going back more than two years. The recall comes after lab evidence identified CRF’s processing plant in Washington state as the cause of an outbreak of listeria, which has so far affected eight people in the U.S. Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Some of these illnesses have been linked to consuming CRF-manufactured or processed products. Investigators were trying to determine if food sources used to make the products at the plant could explain some of the illnesses. “As a result the company, working with the FDA, made a decision to do the recall that far back”, CRF spokesman Gene Grabowski said.
According to The Associated Press the CRF plant closed two weeks ago as the company works to locate the source of the contamination. The most vulnerable are pregnant women, adults older than 65, and people with weakened immune systems. And “not all strains of listeria are equally harmful to people”, he said.
A complete list of products can be found on the FDA’s website.
“No other Costco Wholesale products are known to be affected”.

He also mentioned that the vegetables in the recall are typically cooked before they’re eaten, which would kill the bacteria. Consumers with questions may call the company’s consumer hotline at 844-483-3866, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
