Millions tune in for Republican debate
Before Donald Trump took center stage in the prime-time Republican primary debate, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry faced off with six other candidates Thursday afternoon in what many called the “happy hour debate”, for all those who didn’t make the top 10.

Before the debate on Thursday night, seven Republican presidential candidates who have lower support in public opinion surveys gathered.
Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures as he speaks at the 2015 FreedomFest in Las Vegas, Nevada July 11, 2015.
He also refused to apologize for making crude comments about women, defended his changing policy positions and repeatedly tangled with the debate moderators.
When it was Megyn Kelly’s turn to ask the real estate magnate about his stance on women, reminding him-and the viewers-that he has often referred to them as “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals-“, he simply interjected, “Only Rosie O’Donnell”.
Kelly, who was once a corporate lawyer and is now the host of Fox’s The Kelly File, has yet to respond to Trump’s tirade.
If that turns out the be the case, it would far surpass “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd’s prediction of 15 million viewers. Why should they, when the stupid leaders of the United States will do it for them? “I wonder what the ratings would have been if I wasn’t in the mix”, he said.
When an unidentified male asked Trump what he got from Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi, that was his response. In the post-debate interview, Luntz spoke with a Republican focus group that was overwhelmingly turned off by Trump’s fiery dialogue.
“I don’t think they like me very much”, Trump said.
‘I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct.
Senator Rand Paul and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie argued during the debate about how to protect Americans while respecting their rights.
‘I will not make the pledge at this time, ‘ the improbable party frontrunner said, to loud boos and jeers from the crowd.
Twitter said Trump, who led in the polls going into the debate, garnered about 30 percent of the mentions, with Carson behind him around 12 percent.
