Milner: I’m learning left-back role as fast as I can
“There are pluses and minuses to it”, Milner told the Liverpool Echo.

FOOTBALL PUNDIT Stan Collymore took to his BoyleSports blog directly after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Saturday to express his bewilderment with Jurgen Klopp, yet again. Klopp did, however, offer the England worldwide a ray of hope by saying that he “will” give the 26-year-old playing time, and confidently adding that Sturridge would score when given the chance.
The Argentinean went on to say that the worldwide break is “crazy, it’s insane, it’s insane that we stop again” and then in two weeks the players will return and they have to start again.
“For the game today, I made the decision that the kind of defending was what it was and for what we needed”, he said.
“It’s a good team so hopefully we’ll choose different line-ups for different games”.
He doesn’t want a new starting left back because he’s been impressed by James Milner, who Klopp moved to left back during pre-season in part to fill a need but also in order to ensure he could keep one of his hardest working players on the pitch this season.
The difference for Jürgen Klopp when compared with Houllier inheriting Owen, Benítez Gerrard and Rodgers Suárez, is Liverpool’s best player was injured when he arrived. He did not have a ideal pre-season, that’s how it is. There’s no big mountain for him, Daniel. They played together. These guys up front played together. They’ve trained for the first day of pre-season together, so that’s an advantage. Something is likely to snap in the coming weeks unless Sturridge can deliver the extra endeavour and work. He will play and he will score and all will be good.

A number of clubs are believed to have made contact with Liverpool regarding Ings’ availability but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has no intention of allowing the 24-year-old to depart.
