Milwaukee Gold Star Mom: “I lost the future of my son”

It is disturbing that Donald Trump is unable to graciously recognize the sacrifice and loss of the Khans, whose son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, died in Iraq 12 years ago in defense of his fellow soldiers.

During an interview on the ABC America, Trump claimed the soldier’s mother, Ghazala Khan, remained silent on stage during her husband’s address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) because as a Muslim woman she “wasn’t allowed” to speak.

At last week’s convention, Mr. Khan criticised Mr. Trump for proposing to freeze the entry of foreign Muslims into the US and accused him of making no sacrifices for his country.

Trump had suggested that Ghazala Khan, whose son was killed by a vehicle bomber in Iraq in 2004, may not have been “allowed” to speak during a convention appearance with her husband.

House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell both have come out in praise of the Khans and their son but said nothing of Trump. Given a chance to walk back those comments, Trump declined, saying he didn’t think he went too far in his comments against his opponent.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, the nation’s oldest and largest veterans organization, called Trump out of bounds for tangling with Khizr and Ghazala Khan, whose son was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Donald Trump has said a lot of controversial things in pursuing the presidency of the United States.

“This story is not about Mr. Khan, who is all over the place doing interviews, but rather RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM and the U.S. Get smart!”

Khizr Khan told CNN on Monday that “We want to be out of this controversy. They are the very best of our country”, said Obama.

Khizr and Ghazala Khan have found themselves in the headlines this week following Khizr’s speech at the Democratic National Convention. Khan said Donald Trump had “sacrificed nothing and no one” and also questioned whether Donald Trump had ever read the constitution.

Senator Chuck Grassley, from the swing state of Iowa, said “Mr. Trump’s comments are not in line with my own beliefs about how the members of the military and their families should be treated”.

“I think this is something that was honestly blown hugely out of proportion”, Eric responded.

“We don’t need any apology from him; we are beyond those apologies”, Khan said.
