Flynn and others have said the man whose death touched off the violent protests was shot after he turned toward an officer with a gun in his hand.

The city has also imposed a 10 p.m curfew for Monday night, with hopes of preventing what would be a third consecutive evening of violent protests according to Reuters.
The problems began on Saturday afternoon after a black police officer shot and killed a black man after a traffic stop. Smith had a handgun and refused to drop it, and that’s when a cop took aim.
Demonstrators torched at least six businesses, including a gas station.
Flynn says he believes they have made a difference, resulting in less destruction Sunday night than the previous night.
Police with shields and helmets moved slowly into an intersection after 11 p.m., telling a crowd of about 50 people to disperse. More than 30 people were arrested over the weekend. Police posted on Twitter three locations where they said shots were fired.
One person was shot and a police officer was hurt after a rock hit a police vehicle’s windshield. “He was raising up with it”, the chief said.
In Louisiana, where 37-year-old Alton Sterling was shot in July during a struggle with two white police officers, protests largely dissipated after three law enforcement officers were killed in a shooting spree that officials said appeared to target police.
Another officer’s “riot helmet received a graze wound to the back of it, probably from a firearm”, Mr Flynn said, adding that the officer had not suffered serious injuries. Smith’s father isn’t protesting police brutality, but instead taking responsibility that because he had been in prison, his son learned risky lessons that ultimately cost him his life. Online court records showed a range of offenses that were mostly misdemeanors. Smith was accused in a shooting past year and charged with recklessly endangering safety, a felony.
Violence broke out following the fatal shooting of local man Sylville Smith, 23.
Unrest followed the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling, 37, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in July.
Last year, a total of 990 people were fatally shot by police in the USA, according to the Post. Protesters burned cars and property on Saturday night.
Milwaukee teens had better make sure they get home Monday night.
THE US city of Milwaukee was on edge yesterday in the aftermath of overnight riots prompted by the police killing of a suspect. How and where exactly in the city it will be enforced was not made clear.
The shooting began when a vehicle carrying Smith and another individual was stopped by two police officers. Police said earlier that he was carrying a gun that had been stolen in a March burglary in suburban Waukesha. Squad cars were pelted with bricks, rocks and bottles.
The police arrested 17 protestors Saturday night and 14 people Sunday night.
This weekend’s shooting in Milwaukee was distinct in that the deceased was armed, according to the police account. State law requires all police shootings to be investigated by an independent state agency, giving the state control over such evidence. “I’m going to urge that it be released as quickly as possible”, said Barrett, who has yet to see it. Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Edward A. Flynn said body camera video that hasn’t been released shows that there was a “credible threat” to the officer, who has been identified only as a 24-year-old African-American man. It was unclear how many rounds the officer fired.

Asked about the violence, Neal said: “People stuck together and they are trying to stand up”, for their rights. He also said the officer shot Smith in the chest and arm.
