Milwaukee teen wounded during second night of protests over Sylville Smith shooting

The person who was shot, whose identity has not been revealed as of yet, has been rushed to a medical facility in an armored vehicle. One shooting victim was taken to a hospital, police said, but it was not immediately clear if the injured person was a protester.

Earlier, video taken from a media helicopter showed a small group of protesters running through the streets, picking up orange construction barriers and hurling them out of the way.

In addition to the businesses that were burned to the ground Saturday night, 17 people were arrested and four police injured.

Milwaukee police sparred with protesters, activists and rioters in the Sherman Park neighborhood of Milwaukee over the weekend and into early Monday morning, making 14 arrests.

Later on, shots rang out in three different locations, all within close proximity, according to police. One officer suffered injuries from glass fragments in the eye after someone threw a concrete brick through the window of a squad vehicle.

Communicating to the public via Twitter, Milwaukee police said several arrests were made.

The turbulent weekend prompted Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to declare a state of emergency on Sunday.

Regarding the details surrounding the fatal shooting of Smith, according to the Times, police did not say why exactly the auto Smith had been in was stopped, only saying that it raised suspicion.

What comes next? Barrett says that the state of Wisconsin will run the investigation into the shooting, and that they have jurisdiction over its release.

He said the officer told Smith to drop the gun and he did not do so. He said the man died at the scene.

In Louisiana, where 37-year-old Alton Sterling was shot in July during a struggle with two white police officers, protests largely dissipated after three law enforcement officers were killed in a shooting spree that officials said appeared to target police.

Of course, these rationales are nonsense; hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on riot studies and social programs, and when the inevitable next riot occurs there is an equally predictable demand for more investigations and more money to be thrown at problems liberals created in the first place. Two Milwaukee police officers were injured.

“He should have been tased, if anything”, she said. “People want to feel like they’re getting a fair shake”.

Earlier on Sunday, the Wisconsin National Guard was activated, and 125 personnel were sent to the city. Each police shooting of a black man, even before the facts are known and irrespective of the circumstances, is confirmation of this point of view. The officer stopped Smith’s vehicle because he noticed that Smith was acting suspiciously.

“Don’t bring that violence here”, Kimberly Neal, another sister, said, sobbing as she lamented that she would never be able to again hug her brother.

Residents also took to the streets with trash bags, brooms and shovels to sweep up debris from torched businesses.

City Alderman Khalif Rainey said the area has been a “powder keg” for potential violence throughout the summer. Police said one person was shot at a Milwaukee protest on.

Sherman Park has a large African-American population. Rainey added the violence is the result of inequality, injustice, unemployment and lack of education.

“Something has to be done to address these issues”, he said. “The black people of Milwaukee are exhausted; they are exhausted of living under this oppression”. “I just got out of jail probably two months, but I have been going back and forth in jail and they see these things and I’m like apologizing to my kids because this is the role model they look up to”, Smith said.

“I’ve lived here for 30 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this in my life”, 53-year-old Dominic Lebourgeois, a self-employed handyman told the Times.
