Minecraft Arrives on Wii U

New details on Minecraft: Wii U Edition have emerged on Nintendo’s Japanese page for the game before its release next week. In 2015, the series even saw a storyline applied to its engine, with TellTale Games releasing Minecraft Story Mode in recent months. This was confirmed by Owen Hill of Mojang on Twitter when a fan asked about the possibility of such a feature making its way into the game.

There was no mention of whether the Gamepad would be used for inventory support, but that’s because it’s not happening right now. For example, one player could use the television screen while another could play with them using the GamePad screen, which would eliminate the need for split-screen, as other Wii U multiplayer games have done in the past.

Despite the inability to manage inventory on the GamePad’s 6-inch display, gamers will be able to make use of off-TV play, meaning they can play when the living room display is occupied. This makes a world of difference because most of the Minecraft fans experienced their first gaming practice on the mobile version. Some may prefer a Pc setup, others prefer the comfort of playing from a home console – but this development suggests that the Wii U adaptation may be something special that may well utilise some of the console’s unique features and specs.
