Minecraft’s First Wii U Appearance Will Be Story Mode

Minecraft: Story Mode is being developed by Telltale Games, in partnership with Mojang. The episodic adventure series is also slated for a bunch of current- and last-generation platforms, but up until today Nintendo wasn’t a part of the release plans. Initially set to release on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac, it will now be coming to the Nintendo Wii U as well.

The developer for the upcoming “Minecraft: Story Mode” has been on top of its game when it comes to creating narratives for games.

TellTale has good news for Nintendo fans. This will not only be the first time the game has been shown off since the announcement footage from Minecon 2015 last month, but the very first time anyone outside of Telltale Games and Mojang will get to experience the game for themselves. Supplies are limited, but there are four different designs that fans can choose from throughout the gaming event. The series takes the mega popular open world game and turns it into a graphic adventure in the vein of The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and The Wolf Among Us.

The game will put players in the shoes of an in-universe character named Jesse, voiced by Patton Oswalt. Like many other games in Telltale’s wheelhouse, the player’s choices drive the story. It will be playable at PAX Prime on August 28-31. Those who play the beta over at Booth #3117, will nab a “Minecraft: Story Mode” t-shirt.
