Minesota first graders share the love with Vikings kicker Blair Walsh

A handful of first-graders at Northpoint Elementary in Blaine, Minn., were not among those criticizing Walsh, instead sending him adorable letters of support.

Some Minnesota children wrote letters to cheer up Vikings kicker Blair Walsh after he missed the game-winning kick during Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against Seattle. It’s great to see six-year-olds with a better life perspective than nearly every adult I know.

“Keep on trying. We love you so much”, a student read out loud.

“One time I had the same problem as you and we lost the divisional playoffs”, a student wrote.

And while the stakes aren’t exactly similar, who wouldn’t feel comfort in the fact this first-grader was deeply embarassed after failing to execute a cartwheel? “Finally again, if they hedged their bets and started believing again and now it’s once more, once more I got disappointed”. I felt embarrassed. But you can still help the Vikings win the Super Bowl next year.

Their teacher, Ms. Judie Offerdahl said the kids are learning about empathy in class, and the loss presented a flawless opportunity to act on that lesson, reported Star Tribune. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. “Your fan, Sophia Doffin”.

Another letter pointed out that Walsh is still handsome, and that football is just a game.

Officials with the team have already said they would make sure he receives them.
