Nebraska is 2-4 this season with all four losses coming on the opponent’s final offensive play in the closing seconds or overtime. His pride was glaring and well deserved.

In the fourth quarter, senior fullback Andy Janovich seemed to deliver the definitive dagger, gashing the middle of Wisconsin’s offense for a shocking 55-yard touchdown that whipped Memorial Stadium into a complete frenzy. On the other hand, with 3 Wins and 1 losses, Minnesota Golden Gophers gained 319.3 total yards on an average including 126.5 passing yards (with 20.3 passing attempts having completion percentage of 43.2) and 192.8 rushing yards per game. “Let’s go back. We’ll do better, ‘” Nebraska coach Mike Riley said. “They’ve stayed together as a team. We have to really define what we can do in the passing game and then fit it with what we need to do in the games, and really, really commit ourselves to the definition of what it is that we can do”, Riley said.

The Gophers rushed for 281 yards in last year’s 28-24 comeback win over the Huskers in Lincoln.

“It’s hard to grasp your mind around the fact that when you’re not getting the ball, you still have to play hard, you have to do your job for your teammates”, Maye said.

Armstrong passed for 261 yards, marking his fifth 200-yard passing day of the 2015 season and his eighth in the past 10 games dating back to last season. Westerkamp caught a pass for the 20th straight game, marking the eighth time a Nebraska player has caught a pass in at least 20 straight games.

Next was an 11-yard catch on second-and-9 that led to Newby’s second-quarter TD run five plays later. It was Newby that produced 116 yards on the ground, two touchdowns and recovered an onside kick. He hasn’t been a factor since the return of De’Mornay Pierson-El. He also had three receptions – one of which was a SportsCenter-ready one-handed grab that defied our understanding of physics to pad the lead to 38-14 and sooth the anxious Nebraska fans in the first minute of the fourth quarter. They had 271 yards rushing against the Huskers in 2013, and 281 a year ago. He commanded the offense like a general, like he knew what needed to be done and wasn’t leaving Minneapolis without his crew – his crew – accomplishing it.

“You still have to be able to move the ball, and it was one of those things where we weren’t moving them”, Kill said of NU’s front four.

“He played well enough for us to win the game”.

Leidner threw two late interceptions, one that was returned by Joshua Kalu for a 41-yard touchdown, but he threw for one score and ran for another.

“A lot of guys, on this team, had never beaten Minnesota”, Maliek Collins added.

Nebraska is now 3-4 (1-2 in Big Ten).

“I think the challenge for defending someone like that is the pace is so quick and the tempo of their set is so fast that you have such a short amount of time to read the set and read the play”, Morey said.
