Minnesota school in mourning after 2 students die in crash

Investigators from the sheriff’s office and the Minnesota State Patrol found two teenage boys dead on the roadway.

“This afternoon there was a single-car, fatal accident that involved four Lakeville South High School students”.

A third injured teen was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. The fourth student who could talk and walk was also taken to the HCMC in an ambulance, according to the Sheriff’s department. The district is offering grief support for students and staff. District officials cancelled all Lakeville South High School weekend activities. A statement on the website of the district also said it had plans to offer counseling till such time it was needed.

The Pioneer Press notes that on the same date two years ago – December 4, 2013 – a Lakeville North student, Alyssa Lynn Ettl, died in a crash after losing control of her vehicle on a slush-covered road.

Flynn, recently voted varsity football captain by his teammates, was in the weight room Friday before school, the coach said.

Students from both Lakeville high schools joined prayer groups in South’s auditorium Friday, sharing stories about the boys. The other two suffered are hospitalized with a variety of injuries.
