‘Miracle baby’ Jaxon Buell born with rare disorder defies the odds
Jaxon, nicknamed Jaxon Strong, was born with Microhydranencephaly, an uncurable malformation of the brain, last August. Jaxon’s parents were once told by doctors that he wouldn’t have long to live. “We were given a child; we are given a chance and we have to be his voice”, Brandon explained the decision.

When Jaxon Buell was born, he wasn’t expected to make it past a month. But, defying all odds, Jaxon Buell was able to survive past his first birthday. “Yes, there will be difficulties and struggles and limitations, but they recognize their family, they learn to communicate, and Jaxon is certainly on his way in all of those aspects”.
The family is raising money on GoFundMe to help support Jaxon’s second year of care.
When Jaxon’s mother, Brittany, went in for a routine ultrasound during her pregnancy, doctors were unable to explain the abnormal shape of his head.
The Buells flew to the Boston Children’s Hospital, where Jaxon was more specifically diagnosed with microhydranencephaly, in which fluid-filled sacks make up the incomplete portions of the brain – an even more rare defect without a cure.
Jaxon’s parents think that it is nothing short of incredible and inspiring.

Brandon wrote, “It is beyond humbling to know that our strong son and his story are inspiring thousands of people around the world and that he can contribute something of real value to the medical community”. “He has already touched and inspired more lives in one year than most of us ever will in our lifetime”.
