Miranda Hart drops out of Call the Midwife
Miranda Hart will not be returning to her role as “Chummy” in BBC One’s Call the Midwife, as was reported in April.

Based on the memoirs of the late Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife tells of midwives working in east London in the 1950s and ’60s.
‘Filming has been going brillianatly over the summer, and we look forward to bringing our fans exciting and emotional new stories from Nonnatus House at Christmas, and in early 2017’.
The BBC previously announced that her character of Chummy would be returning for this year’s Christmas special, however, Miranda has shared on social media that this will no longer be happening, due to her heavy workload in the next few months.
Dame Harriet, 65, is set to play a new character, Sister Ursula, when the show returns next year.
“We’ve been bursting to share the news Chummy has left the mother and baby unit and is heading back to Poplar for series six”, they said.
The actress then landed her first Hollywood role in comedy action movie Spy alongside Jason Statham, Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law.
Miranda’s star continues to shine, following her departure from the popular East End period drama, and the end of her own sitcom “Miranda” previous year.
Chummy was written out of the show during series four.

The next series will see the nurse midwives lend a helping hand to babies in South Africa, and the stars of the hit show have already begun filming in Cape Town.
