Mischa Barton slammed for insensitive Alton Sterling tribute
Now on holiday in Europe, the 30-year-old actor was still plugged in to the news back at home, and posted her thoughts about the death of Alton Sterling, who was shot and killed by police while selling CDs outside of a supermarket this week.

But instead of uploading a picture of Sterling, Barton posted a snap of herself, which many of her followers dubbed “inappropriate”. “This may have been going on forever in the United States but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now”, wrote the 30-year-old actress on Instagram.
Instagram and Twitter users were quick to call her up on it. “The world is a precarious place right now.#stop #reflect and #act appropriately”.
Turns out, she’s alive, but people are calling for her head.
According to USA Today, Alton Sterling was shot by police outside a convenience store in Louisiana as he peddled CD and DVDs outside the store.
Was Mischa Barton really insensitive to Alton Sterling shooting?
The post, which has since been deleted, was a reflection of Barton’s opinions on the tragic shooting. Particularly on social media, where everything lives on for all eternity, and one person may accuse your views of not being “woke” enough while another’s typing a weirdly defensive ALL LIVES MATTER comment in all caps. Castile was pulled over for a broken taillight in Minnesota, where an officer shot him as he reached into his pocket for his ID.
Vitriolic comments underneath Barton’s post came fast and furious.
Meanwhile, other celebrities, like Drake, were heralded for their signs of support for Sterling’s cause.
