The 21-year-old’s Miss Universe dreams came true for a brief moment, when Steve Harvey, the pageant’s host, wrongly named her as the victor.
“I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world”.
“Our destiny is written for you”. And my destiny was this.
Gutierrez was trolled after she posted a couple of photos of herself, looking to relive the shortest Miss Universe stint ever. “It could happen to the best of us”, Shapiro continued.
She expressed confidence that both women will move past the negativity of the incident: “I know both women have an incredible year ahead of them where they will embrace every opportunity that comes out of this”.
Gutierrez, of Sincelejo, Colombia, had already been crowned by Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega of Barranquilla, Colombia, who was forced to remove the crown and give it to Miss Philippines.
Harvey then announced that Wurtzbach was, in fact, the victor, and the camera then panned to the contestant, who looked visibly shocked after seeing Gutierrez’s celebration. This is exactly what’s on the card. “I have to apologise”.
‘I can show it to your right here, the first runner-up is Colombia.
Fans are fearing that the pain of being crowned Miss Universe 2015 only for 2 minutes could be pushing Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, towards a mental breakdown. “I feel awful”, the Family Feud host posted on Twitter after the flub.
According to a snapchat video of the show, the comedian was heard blaming the error on the teleprompter but later publicly took responsibility for the mistake by explaining that he had misread his cue card.

She also congratulated the Philippines for their new Miss Universe title. I don’t want to take away from this wonderful night and pageant. It didn’t deserve to happen that way, but it happened from an honest mistake.
